Road Trippin’

I hope you had a wonderful New Year’s! Its been a crazy-busy couple of weeks for us (as I’m sure it has been for many people!) Thought I’d share just a little of what we’ve been up to. Just a couple days after Christmas, the Mister and I left on a little road trip. And, of course, we had to make a couple stops along the way…

BLS_6228(Confession: I am a total sucker for anything touristy. I mean, the WORLD’S BIGGEST ROCKER?? Awesome!)

We finally made it all the way to Branson, where we saw my beautiful cousin get married. It was an absolutely lovely day, and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy a wedding as guests for the first time since our own.

We also did a couple Branson-y things during our short stay. Its such a funny little town! It’d be interesting to go back during the spring or summer (many things were closed down for the season).

Maze of Mirrors(Maze of Mirrors–scary!)

We drove toward home, stopping over in the St. Louis area to visit some dear friends. We took a detour to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, which was beautiful, and wonderfully peaceful on an incredibly warm New Year’s Eve day.

We spent New Year’s Eve night with our dear friends Tom and Cara, and their beautiful baby girl. We celebrated with a kiss twice, once “our” time and again at “their” time. It was such a blessing to ring in our first full year as a married couple with great friends. The next morning we said goodbye to this face…

…and headed home.

These photos are the beginning of my effort to take more pictures for myself, both to document my own life (which always seems to get away from me, even though I almost always have a camera nearby) and to push myself creatively and artistically. I’m not one for making “resolutions”–I’d like to think that I’m trying to improve myself throughout the entire year–but the New Year does allow some time for reflection and goal-setting. I don’t want to become complacent with the pictures I take, so I am renewing my effort to try new things and be constantly seeking inspiration.

I’ve set a few other goals, both personal and professional, and most of them will remain private, but I’m very excited to see where this year takes me and Briana Snyder Photography (and hopefully I’ll be updating this-here blog more regularly!)
